It Is Well With My Soul!

Before you read on, please take a few minutes to listen/view this video.  This song is one our church sings often during our worship services.  It is, "It Is Well" by Kristene DiMarco.  Here is the link: https://youtu.be/8Wb_WD1emFQ

In case you don't have the time to view the video or for some reason can't here are the simple, powerful words to the chorus: (Bethel Music)

It is well with my soul

It is well with my soul

It is well with my soul

It is well with my soul repeat 3x(increasing in strength and volume)

It is well it is well with my soul x3 ahhhhhhh (softly)

Simple huh?  Simple words cast to an awesome tune and wow....the power of such a positive statement!

At our church, New Covenant Grace Fellowship in Inverness, Florida we are very much into declaring the truths of the New Covenant.  Now, by "declaring the truths" here I mean much more than just the things that I and others teach and preach to the congregation.  I'm talking about the congregation declaring on their own the truths of the New Covenant.  We are big in believing in the importance of renewing our minds with the truths of God's Word and then speaking forth those truths in midst of the the events of our personal lives.

Now please allow me to state the importance of declaring the proper things from the Word of God, the Bible.  I've written several blogs on how everything stated in the Bible is NOT written to New Covenant Believers in Jesus Christ.  It is so very important to know who any Bible author is writing to and that even includes the words of Jesus.  Many do not understand that many of His words found in the four Gospels is not written to us living now in the New Covenant.  Listen, Jesus was a man under Law and speaking to and ministering to people under Law.  We are NOT under the Law! I don't want to spend much time on this subject now, but this is very important to understand, and to be honest, I believe that the vast majority in today's Christian Church do not have the slightest idea about what I just stated, many will even argue with me over this!  But, I am right!

The song says, "It is well with my soul!"  Now, we understand that we New Covenant Believers are formed in three parts; spirit, soul and body.  We all have been taught the following little description of our triune life, "I am a spirit, I have a soul and I live in a body." Our soul is described as our mind, will and emotions.  So as we sing this song we are stating, All is well with my mind, my will, and my emotions...my soul!  Isn't this the area of our lives where we have the most problems?  Certainly our spirit realm is in good shape, that is the place where Christ lives, that isn't messed up at all!  Our body deals with sickness and disease as these things come against it.  However, when we get our "soul realm" working in alignment with our spirit, we find our bodies measuring up.

So, just about every time Kris, our wonderful worship leader, leads us into Kristene Di Marco's song, I usually exhort our congregation to make this a verbal confession over our lives in the next few days and watch what takes place!  I practice what I preach!  I do this very often as the song so often comes back to me, a lot when I'm on our lake fishing!  It happened again this morning.  I'm singing the chorus and when I'm done, I'm confessing the truth of God's wonderful finished works of the cross over my life.

Here is how I do it:

"Thank you Lord for making it well with my soul!  It is indeed well with my soul!  It is well with my mind, my will and my emotions!  It is well with my thinking!  It is well with my health, my body!  It is well with my relationships!  It is well with my family!  (I declare it is well over our 5 children and their families) It is well with my finances!  It is well with my church (I declare wellness over the people of our church families that come to mind.  From this I expand my declarations as the Holy Spirit leads me.  Can you see how exciting this can be?

You know even though I will make this blog available to many, many people, only a few will actually read it.  So, to you my Reader Friend, I also declare it is well over you!  You soul  too is very, very well!  Glory!

Grace and peace!

Lets Compare 2 Verses!

This morning I thought it would be interesting to compare 2 verses of Scripture from the same Book, 1st John.  Emmett Anderson, an Elder/teacher at New Covenant Grace Fellowship, calls this Book, "First Little John!"

The first verse is 1 John 1:9, "But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness."

The second verse is 1 John 3:6, "Anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is."

And for a kicker here, let's cheat and add another verse, I John 3:9, "Those who have been born into God's family do not make a practice of sinning, because God's life is in them.  So they can't keep on sinning, because they are children of God."

I'd suggest that this comparison of verses from 1st John is rather interesting to say the least.  If you have been in the Church for any length of time you have been taught that 1 John 1: 9 is written to you.  So when you sin, all you need to do is to confess the sin and everything will be OK between you and God.

However, the truth of the matter is that this verse was NOT written to Believers in Jesus Christ!  Most likely it was written to the Gnostics of John's day.  In order to understand my point, all one has to do is to carefully read verses 1-7 of the same chapter and determine who the Author was writing to.  In order to do this all that is needed is to check out the pronouns in these verses (you, us, our, we) and it becomes very clear that John was writing to people who did not have "fellowship" with either John or Christ (vs. 3)

Then if we read 1 John 1:9 in context with chapter 3, we note that there is a sharp contradiction established.  If we hold to the point that 1:9 is written to Believers and believe that the verses in chapter 3, mentioned above, are correct then we have a very sharp contradiction indeed!

Here is the fact of the matter, Jesus Christ ended all sin; past, present and future!  Sin no longer exists! Period!  Of course we still do stupid things, some of which may not please God, and some things that will bring bad consequences our way, but nevertheless, sin (as we have been taught) no longer exists!

Let's close this post with some great words from Brother Paul, to bring this into more context: 2 Corinthians 5:19, "For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, NO LONGER COUNTING PEOPLE'S SINS AGAINST THEM."  I sometimes ask people who argue this with me, "What part of "No Longer" don't you understand?"

Then again in Hebrews 10:17,  (I believe Paul wrote Hebrews) "I will NEVER AGAIN remember their sins and lawless deeds."  He uses this same words in Chapter 8:12 of which both are quotes from Jeremiah 31 where God tells His people that one day He will bring about a New Covenant and then He details what that Covenant will be.  See, in the Old Covenant sin existed because the Law was still in force, but under the New the Law has ended (was fulfilled) and we are under the New which is procured and sealed by the Blood of the Lamb Himself!

This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ My Friend!  It is the Good News....You are not a sinner, instead you are holy and righteous because God, through Christ made you that way!  Glory!!!

Now as you begin to believe this about yourself, you will begin to live it fully in your life!  The things you used to do, you will soon find yourself not doing.  It is good!  It is very good!  Glory!

Our Church Teaches "Practical Grace!"

Yesterday morning I had the privilege of leading a young man to the Lord.  He is a guy struggling with alcoholism and in his own words he said, "I'm at the bottom of the barrel!"  What a thrill it is to tell people, and especially this young man, about God's wonderful plan that was fulfilled by Jesus Christ.

One of the things I was able to share with this guy was how wonderful and how practical God's grace is.  In other words, the tenets of New Covenant Grace are not just those of doctrine and theology, but they are things that actually work out in the everyday life of a Believer.  For instance, understanding that I am no longer a rotten sinner instead I am holy and righteous, no matter what I did yesterday, is a life changer.  In understanding things like this, I am slowly and surely converted into what I believe about myself.  It is awesome!

One of the visions of our fantastic church here in Florida (New Covenant Grace Fellowship) is to be able to communicate to our community how awesome the workings of Grace are in the lives of those who understand what it is. In other words, Grace works where "the rubber hits the road!"   I am desiring that all of Citrus County has the opportunity to be exposed to the inner workings of New Covenant Grace.

We teach so much from 2 Corinthians chapter 5 that the page of my rather new Bible is wearing thin.  But here is a verse that we just use and use and use....Verse 21, "For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we COULD BE MADE right with God through Christ."    Do you see it?  We are "made right" with God through Christ!  If you understand that today, your life will be fundamentally changed forever!  You, my Friend, are no longer a sinner, Christ took care of that for you, but you are the "Righteousness of God through Christ Jesus!"

Understanding the above will change your life in every practical aspect of it.  Talk about revival!!!  Glory!

Have a great day today!

I love the Book of Romans! I could spend hours just meditating and feeding on Chapters 5 and 6 alone; what powerful statements for leading the victorious, New Covenant Grace filled life!

Here is just a little teaser......Romans 5:1, "Therefore, since we HAVE BEEN made right in God's sight BY FAITH, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord HAS DONE FOR US."

How many people are looking for peace in their lives? Yet, religion has kept us away from the finished works of Christ on His cross. Instead, we must do....do....do....to earn God's peace. Overnight I read a so called, "prophetic word" from one of the so called, "Prophets" of today. This guy said that we must spend a lot of today's time in praising God and that if we do He will inhabit us today. Well, what about tomorrow? I guess I'll have to spend a lot of time praising Him tomorrow as well. Hey...nothing wrong with praising God! But we don't praise Him just so that He will inhabit us! He already does that! So, again, we are trying to do what has already been done for us, and there is no peace in that!

Hey, we have peace with God because of Christ, PERIOD!

Glory!

Grace and Peace!

"Larry, You'll Get Over It!"

If you know me at all, by now you are aware of the fact that I am what is currently being called, "A Grace Preacher!"  Yes, that's me!  I am guilty....I am a Grace Preacher all the way!  I've been that way now for nearly four years and, to be honest, I do not have any intentions on changing my ways!  No way!!!

The "message" of New Covenant Grace has totally, radically changed my life and I can say the same for many in my family and my church.  There is not the slightest chance that I will ever go back to my old ways!  I used to call myself a Revivalist.  I now know that what we call revival is shallow compared to our revelations of the finished works of the cross.  Actually, I am convinced that one can not truly have revival if the ingredients of Grace are missing!

Back in the day, I was told, "Larry, you are getting all caught up in this 'grace thing!" Some actually suggested that one day I would "get over it!"  I always laughed at that as Grace was being reduced to something akin to a sickness that I would actually get over one day.  How little did they know!!!!!

Here is what John saw and wrote, "For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ." (John 1:17 KJV)  John saw Grace as truth and they both came from Jesus Christ!  My thinking is, "How can anyone ever get over anything that comes from Jesus Christ?"

The concepts, the truths of New Covenant Grace are far greater than just another Christian fad teaching!  This goes way beyond Theology or doctrine, as actually Grace is Christ Himself!

I am seeing and I am teaching a lot these days on the practicality of Grace.  In other words, doctrine equates to knowledge where revelation equates to changed lives.  Knowledge puffs up, but the revelations of Grace....Oh, that is another matter indeed!  The Holy Spirit is teaching us at New Covenant Grace Fellowship in Inverness, Florida, how to walk out the Grace life.  It is so encouraging to see what the results are as we do so!

Therefore, will I ever "get over" Grace?  Me thinkest not!  To make it plain...No way Jose!

Grace and Peace!

Some Days Are Like That!

This morning, while taking our dog, Manny out for his first pit stop of the day, we were confronted by a cat running through the neighborhood.  Now cats and Manny are not a good combination!  Matter of fact, cats and Manny are a very bad combination, that is unless you want a bunch of cat fur flying in the breeze!

So, I'm not paying attention, actually watering some flowers from the hose, holding onto our 80 pound dog's lead, when Manny decides to take off after the cat.  Of course I'm not paying attention to either animal as I am concentrating on watering the dry flowers.  Within seconds I find myself sprawled out on the ground as Manny pulled me right over and did so very hard!  Ouch!

Here's the deal... I came into breakfast feeling very human and frail!  I also felt a little older as in my younger days that would have never happened!

I guess some days are just like that!  We wake up to our humanness!  Some days we wake up to failure and frailty.  I have a birthday coming in another week.  I am not a "Spring Chicken" anymore.  I don't really like that, but I am understanding that God fully knows what is going on in my life.  When I am weak, He is strong!  When I fail, He overcomes!  When I fail, yes I do fail from time to time, He is the Champ!  And better yet, He lives in me and I live in Him!

If you are waking up today faced with your frailty and failure, the good news is that you are NOT alone!  Look inward today and find your strength!

It is gonna be a great day!

Grace and Peace!
