The Bible and Grace: Is the Bible Inerrant?

There are three roads within the "Grace Movement" (I don't like the word "movement" but I use it for clarification) that I just cannot travel.  Road number one is that the Bible is not inerrant.  The second road is that hell does not exist.  The third road is universal salvation.  I have found a few people who are teaching New Covenant Grace who are traveling all three of these roads.  It seems that if they travel one of these roads they end up traveling all three.

I cannot travel these roads!  After much soul searching, research and study I have come to the conclusion that these roads are incorrect and that the only way that they can exist is by traveling Road Number One, that the Bible is not inerrant.  There is only one way that a person can believe that hell does not exist or that everyone is saved and that is to take away the authority of the Bible!

It seems that some have problems and questions with the Bible and I can certainly understand where they are coming from.  I fully agree, that in today's Church there are those who actually worship the Bible, attributing to it much greater authority than the Holy Spirit.  As we teach, we worship the Author, not His book.  A question was asked awhile back, "If you knew that you were to spend the rest of your life on a desert island and you could either take your Bible or the Holy Spirit, which would you bring?"  Of course, without a doubt, my answer is the Holy Spirit!  Yet, I'm not certain that all Believers would do that as there are many who do not have a relationship with the Holy Spirit so all that they know about God is from their Bibles.

The Early Church did not have the Bible, yet they lived through severe times, going through things that would be unheard of today.  They overcame because of God's word; not a written book, but rather what He, the Holy Spirit, had spoken to them.  Read Hebrews chapter 11 and you will see what I mean.  The Bible as we know it did not exist in that time, yet God's people over came.  Why?  They overcame because of their faith in what God had spoken to them.  That to me is very simple!

However, today we do have the Bible!  I am so glad that I have my Bible.  I love my Bible!  It is because of my Bible that the Holy Spirit has brought me into such a wonderful place of understanding the New Covenant like I now do.  However, I have to say that this understanding has only come by revelation.  Yet, that revelation was revelation of the truths already stated in the Bible.  I am a huge proponent of Paul's Gospel as he was the one who brought the revelation of Grace to the Church.  Paul was given that revelation as a result of three years of teaching in Arabia by Christ Himself. (Galatians 1: 11-12 & 17-18) It was Paul's Gospel (See Gal. 1: 8-9) that revolutionized my life!

Granted there are difficult things stated in the Bible.  Yesterday I saw a cartoon that someone put on Facebook that depicted two Old Testament type patriarchs talking about a pretty horrendous deed they were about to do and saying, "No problem, we'll just say that God told us to do it!"  Some have been speaking of Numbers chapter 31, where God, through Moses, is telling the people to utterly destroy all that belongs to the Midianites and only keep the virgin women alive.  This was revenge on Midian as they tried to lead Israel into idolatry.  The question posed by some is this, "How can a God who is love instruct His people to murder and rape like this?"  I will not take the time to completely answer this question, suffice it to say that it is indeed love.  Actually, it was love for you and I as the Blood Line of Christ had to be kept pure so that we could enjoy the New Covenant.  That may be a stretch for some, yet is is so.

Here is my answer to those who do not understand things like Numbers chapter 31.  Of course my answer is found in a couple of passages of the Bible, yet these passages ring true in my spirit and the Holy Spirit has brought life to them for me.

Passage number 1: Isaiah 40: 12-15, "Who else has held the oceans in his hand?  Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers?  Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale?  Who is able to advise the Spirit of the Lord?  Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him?  Has the Lord ever needed anyone's advice?  Does he need instruction about what is good?  Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice?  No, for all the nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket.  They are noting more than dust on the scales.  He picks up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand.  All the wood in Lebanon's forests and all Lebanon's animals would not be enough to make a burnt offering worthy of our God.  The nations of the world are worth nothing to him.  In his eyes they count for less than nothing-mere emptiness and froth."

Passage number 2: Isaiah 55: 8-9, "'My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts.' says the Lord.  'And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.  For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.'"

Those verses are  my answer to all of the problems that some seem to see within the Bible.  I have faith in the Holy Spirit that gave man the Bible.  Even though the Early Church did not have the Bible, we do!  God has given those of us living within the New Covenant a wonderful tool.  We call it the Bible, some the Word of God.  I call it both!  It, along with the ministry of the Holy Spirit, has totally, radically changed my life!  I am also watching both totally revolutionizing the lives of those I love, in my family and my church.

So....this is my story and I am sticking to it!  Glory!

We ARE In The Midst of Revival!

Currently there is a powerful move of God occurring around the world and it's not your Mother's type of revival!  Over the past 2-3 years many people have discarded old teachings and have been greatly effected by a revelation of New Covenant Grace.  It seems that just about everyone I talk with in regards to Grace began to get the revelation of it during this time period.  By the way, that also includes Corinne and I!

I, most probably like yourself, have spent many years seeking God for revival.  We have done all kinds of things, hoping that a powerful move of God would arrive.  For years I was caught up into spiritual warfare.  We did spiritual mapping, I can't tell you how many Popsicle sticks with Scripture verses on them that I've planted all over this country.  We would pray almost endlessly for the Heaven to be opened over our community and those regions we ministered in as we traveled.  We would form intercession teams and cry out to God for hours, beseeching Him to send another revival our way.

Then along comes Grace and we now realize that all the things we would cry out to God to send to us, we actually have as a result of Christ's death.  Last night I shared with our mid week group what I thought was a pretty powerful revelation.  It is, "Don't pray for an open Heaven as God has never shut the door!"

I stand amazed at how off center the Church really is!  We do everything except what we are supposed to do.  OK, you may ask, "Larry, then what is God asking us to do?"  I'm glad you asked that question!  The answer is.....simply believe!  See, our only job is to exert our faith and we win there as well, because God has already given us the faith we need! Our faith in the finished works of Christ lead us into a wonderful place of rest.  You can measure how far into the New Covenant Grace revolution by how deep you have entered spiritual rest. (for a Scipture reference please look at Hebrews 4:1-11)

As a result of the above, the people we are ministering to here in Florida are growing like weeds and they are staying stable, no more ups and downs!  I love it!  I love what God has done!  Glory!

How about I close this post with Hebrews 4:14-16...."So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.  So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most."

You see, I believe that the missing word from revival has been Grace!
