That's right, I insist that everyone learns Grace! Why? Because Paul told me to! Actually he told Timothy, "Teach these things and insist that everyone learn them." (I Timothy 4:11 NLT) I figure it this way...If Paul told Timothy to insist that everyone learn Grace, then that is also good enough for me! Get it?
In keeping with the context of this verse we note that it takes place in the midst of Paul's stern warning about the false teachers of the "last times." (Verses 1 and 2). What is interesting here is that some people these days are saying that the "false teachers" are the ones preaching "hyper grace" and stuff like that. They suggest that the "hyper grace" crowd is giving people a license to sin and are teaching lawlessness. So, let's take a clear look at what Paul really told Timothy about this subject:
"Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. 2 These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead."
The King James says that these false teachers of the last days, the days in which we are currently living in, will be teaching "doctrines of demons." Therefore, some today are saying that these "doctrines" are teaching people that they are free to sin, etc. Yet the Scriptures are very clear who these "false teachers" really are and they are not those who are currently preaching preaching Grace! Note the context of everything by looking at verse 3a, "They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods." By their very message, the false teachers are identifying themselves as those who are not preaching Grace at all, rather they are those who are still under the law and propagating it to all of the Church, especially the gentiles!
Get this....The false teachers, those who are truly preaching and teaching "doctrines of demons" are the religious crowd of today who are still busy trying to mix law with Grace!
Paul then tells Timothy, (verse 6)"If you explain these things to the brothers and sisters, Timothy, you will be a worthy servant of Christ Jesus, one who is nourished by the message of faith and the good teaching you have followed." So, there you have it, I am a worthy servant of Christ Jesus because I am teaching the doctrine that Paul taught! I am a radical, teacher of "hyper Grace!" Why? Because that is the Good News that changed the world. People, you are free! Religion wishes to hold you in bondage, but Christ died to set you free!
Those are my thoughts and I'm sticking to them! So, I insist that you learn Grace! After all, it is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Grace and Peace!
