My Question to Myself: "Am I Preaching the Right Thing?"

My answer to my title question is:  YES!  I am preaching Paul's Gospel!  Over the past few years, on this wonderful journey into New Covenant Grace, I've questioned myself many, many times!  My critics do not understand what has transformed in my life.  Some have suggested I read someones book and just became a "follower."  However, this is not even close to being correct!  My beliefs are based on the revelation that the Holy Spirit has given me from the Bible alone.  The Bible is my Book!  Sure I enjoy the writings of others, but I'm where I am because a guy named, Paul, one day was taken to the back side of the desert and taught by Jesus Himself the wonderful truths of the New Covenant!

So, I'm a strong follower of Paul.  I follow his teaching and this has changed my life!  Therefore when I seem to get a fresh revelation from the Spirit I ask myself, "Self..What I'm seeing here is completely different than anything that I've believed in the past, so I seeing this right?"  Then I read the Bible, talk to my wife, hash this "new thing" out and...Bam!  My life and the lives of those I'm teaching is once again changed as God brings us into more revelation of Grace!

Look at what Paul says in Galatians 1: 8 (NLT), "Let God's curse fall on any one, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of God News than the one we preached to you."  Then verse 9, "I say again what we have said before, if anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed."

Wow!  Pretty tough stuff wouldn't you say?  I can hear some say, "Where is the love?"  However, Paul wasn't fooling around with Grace.  He was taught this message by the Lord Himself.  Look at this: Galatians 1: 11, "Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preached is not based on mere human reasoning.  I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me.  Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ."

I fear many today are "frustrating the Grace of God." (Gal. 2:21)  They are trying so hard to make themselves right with God.  Its like they get saved by faith in what Christ has done for them, but that is where it all ends; they continue on working hard to keep themselves saved.  The Church of today seems to keep saying, "Perform! Perform! and Perform!"  Those of us who preach Grace and New Covenant life keep saying, "Rest! Rest! and Rest! What a difference!

In Titus chapter 3, Paul talked about those who were causing divisions in the Church.  The divisions were over the subject of Grace; they were saying that people still sinned after they were saved, completely going against the Gospel that Paul preached.  Paul says to them in verse 11, "For people like that have turned away from the truth, and their own sins condemn them."  What happened to them...they went back under Law!  They "frustrated the Grace of God!"  When people go back under Law (the Levitical Law or any law that they come up with that by following they become closer to God) they once again become Sinners!  Ouch!

Please join with me on this wonderful journey of freedom.

Allow me to close with Galatians 2: 16, "Yet we know that a person is made right with God by faith in Jesus Christ, not by obeying the law.  And we have believed in Christ Jesus, so that we might be made right with God because of our faith in Christ, not because we have obeyed the law.  For no one will ever be made right with God by obeying the law." (and I might add..."by obeying ANY law!")

Grace & Peace!

Stop It I Say!

Stop what?

Stop mixing the Old Covenant in with the New Covenant!

When you mix these two covenants you are doing two things; making both non-effective and opening your life up to condemnation!

I am constantly being told that I'm going too far with the Grace message.  To be honest,  doing that is actually impossible.  Yes, it is impossible to go too far with Grace.  Here is why.... Grace is not just a message that we preach/teach, it is actually Christ Himself.  So, it's impossible to go too far with Christ, wouldn't you say?

Some people, those who mix the Covenants, fear New Covenant Grace because they fear that by going too deep into this, we will be giving people a license to sin.  Yet they fail to understand the wonderful blessings of the New Covenant, where people are lead by the Holy Spirit.  The issue that concerns people always seems to be that of the famous three letter word, S-I-N!  If we have the NC/OC mixture going on, then we approach sin with fear and trembling.  If we understand the New Covenant, we rely on, by faith, that Christ has taken care of the sin issue for all times; past, present and future.

What has Paul said about the issue?

Look at Romans 6: 1, 2 (NLT), "Well then, should we keep on sinning so that God can show us more and more of his wonderful grace? Of course not! Since we have died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?"

Paul deals with the "sin issue," he actually puts it to bed permanently, yet when we mix Covenants it seems that the "issue" seems to awaken!  Take a good look at verse 2b..."Since we HAVE died to sin, how can we continue to live in it?"  I highlighted the word, "HAVE" because we need to note that it is past tense.  Sin is no longer an issue to those of us who place our faith in Christ!  Period!

Yesterday I was told that I should stop using the New Living Translation because it really isn't a translation, but a glorified paraphrase.  If you question this, take a close read of the introduction to any New Living Translation, tell all on the list scholars who translated this work that it isn't really a translation and see what they think of your religious ideas! But to be fair and balanced, let's take a look at Romans 6: 2 from the old standby, King James:

"God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?" about that?  The King James says the same thing...Christians are dead to sin!

So, all who are mixing the New Covenant with the Old Covenant...will you please just stop it!  You are making a mess of God's wonderful, free gift!  That gift is Christ!

Grace and Peace!

Oh... what do you think of my new Blog format?  Let me know!  Happy Thanksgiving!

The two biggest mistakes in Bible interpretation are: 1. Not knowing who a passage or verse is written to. 2. Not taking a passage or verse in complete context. Thirdly, often doctrines, theologies or Biblical beliefs systems are based on obscure passages or verses that seem to go against the majority thought of other passages and verses. Often when #3 occurs, understanding who the passage or verse is written to clears things up.

Now, what I have just shared with you is very important! For instance, if you, a solid Believer in Jesus Christ, take a verse that was written to those outside of faith in Christ as a verse for yourself to follow then you are making a huge mistake. Often these types of issues occur in regards to sin and repentance.

Unfortunately, people will fight to the end over doctrines that have absolutely no meaning to those who are walking in faith in God through Christ. Most times these doctrines have been formed by believing that a verse is written to Christians when it was not.

My thought for the day.... Learn how to interpret your Bible!

Here's a verse that needs no interpretation, just application in our lives.....Romans 5: 17 (NLT), "For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ."

Are You A Dual Covenant Believer? I am, at least from time to time!

I am about to celebrate my spiritual birthday. 39 years ago, the days prior to Thanksgiving 1973, in a hotel room in Jackson, Michigan, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ! What a ride ever since! However, over all of those years I was subjected to lots of wrong teaching, especially when it came to a Believer's relationship with God, through Christ. So, over the past several years and especially over the past year, Its like I've been a complete new make over! I have stated many times that my Bible reads like a new book. However, in the midst of all of the joy found in the revelations of the New Covenant, is also the pain of discarding all of the past Old Covenant teaching that I've embraced. Ouch!

Especially over this past year, I have wrestled with God in some areas where He has shown me that my past teachings have been false. It's like one day a light goes on and BINGO! I see something in a complete new way, a way that I've often fought against. Here is one area...I used to believe that a Christian could loose their salvation. To be fair, I felt that this was a difficult task to complete, but I believed that it was possible. Within this past year I was brought face to face with the fact that God saves us and that it's a forever thing. Our salvation is totally dependent on what Christ has done for us and has nothing to do with our own actions! No one, other than my wife, would ever know of the struggle I had with this as the Spirit was revealing this to me, through the Bible! I did everything in my power to try to prove what I was seeing as new revelation was wrong! But I kept coming back to the same place...God saves us forever! No matter what!

So from time to time, I'm confronted with someone who throws me a curve ball based on my new belief in unconditional eternal security. People are now accusing me of being a Baptist! lol It seems that when I try to catch or hit that curve ball I still seem to wrestle with some Old Covenant thinking, based on past teaching I've received. Obviously I can reject the Old as the light of the New comes forward, but I find that I have to continually be on my guard when it comes to issues like this.

Friend, here's the deal....we cannot mix the New Covenant with the Old Covenant. When we do we make a mess out of both covenants and the only result will be confusion that can lead to condemnation; and I find that most Christians today are very close friends with condemnation!

I close with this passage for you to ponder today: Matthew 16: 5-12 (NLT)

Yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees

5 Later, after they crossed to the other side of the lake, the disciples discovered they had forgotten to bring any bread. 6 “Watch out!” Jesus warned them. “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”

7 At this they began to argue with each other because they hadn’t brought any bread. 8 Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “You have so little faith! Why are you arguing with each other about having no bread? 9 Don’t you understand even yet? Don’t you remember the 5,000 I fed with five loaves, and the baskets of leftovers you picked up? 10 Or the 4,000 I fed with seven loaves, and the large baskets of leftovers you picked up? 11 Why can’t you understand that I’m not talking about bread? So again I say, ‘Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.’”

12 Then at last they understood that he wasn’t speaking about the yeast in bread, but about the deceptive teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

Keep your eyes focused on Jesus! On the completed works that He has already completed for you. The Holy Spirit will help us all continue on this wonderful journey called New Covenant Grace!

Grace and Peace!

Grace is the Good Monster!

I am totally convinced that most Christians do not understand what Grace really is!  To this equation I have to include pastors and even theologians, past and present. To be honest, the world is filled with false theology in regards to this subject!

Lately I've been feeling a strong desire to help others, especially other churches, understand the wonderful life found in the New Covenant.  I can see myself doing some traveling, holding some meetings in other churches and with other groups, even some home meetings, helping people come into the revelation of true New Covenant Grace.  Who knows....maybe I'm just missing my days (12 years) of travel on what we called, "The Highway to Revival."  But, I can see some pastors/leaders calling upon Corinne and I, asking our help to release the New Covenant revelation to their people.  I would really enjoy doing that!

However, the very first thing I would have to say to any leader asking our help would be, "Do you fully understand what this will cost you?"  To be honest, I'm not sure too many pastors are willing to pay the price of such wonderful revelation!  Here is why....First of all if I were to share in a church the true Biblical concepts of New Covenant Grace, the very first result would be that people are guaranteed to get angry and leave the church!  I would have to warn the pastor/leader that he/she will be labeled a false prophet, a New Ager, a teacher of lawlessness and the list continues!

I have noted a very interesting lesson over the past year or so and that is that people, I should say religious people, get very angry with the truths of the New Covenant!

Now I would think that the opposite would take place, that people tired of religious bondage would jump at the chance of finally being freed from performance driving Christianity.  I would think that a true New Covenant church in a community would be the largest, fasting growing church in the area.  But that is not so!  Therefore, I don't think that there are too many pastors/leaders who really want their church exposed to true Grace.  After all, it's just easier to keep telling their people that they sin all of the time and that they must repent in order to please God.

All of the above is why I say that, "Grace is the Good Monster!"  Grace is soooo good!  My personal life has been transformed.  Also, you should see what is going on in the lives the people of my church who have stayed and embraced what we're teaching!  It is awesome!  Yes, Grace is good, yet it is also the Monster, in that all who are religious view Grace and cross their fingers like they would towards a vampire.  Yet, what they are really doing is denying the finished work of the Cross!

Allow me to quote Paul in Romans 5: 21 (NLT), "So just as sin ruled over all people and brought them to death, now God's wonderful grace rules instead, giving us right standing with God and resulting in eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

I love this Monster!  Wowsers!

Grace & Peace!

I love my church! You know what I should really say is.... I love the people of my church because that is what my church really is....THE PEOPLE!

Corinne and I arrived here nearly 4 years ago. We were to minister in this church for 3-4 meetings beginning the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2008. Little did we know that God would show up strongly in those meetings and the 3-4 nights soon were extended right up until Christmas. Then beginning the first Sunday of the New Year, 2009, we became Interim Pastors for 6 months while the pastor of the church took a much needed sabbatical. Several weeks later we felt God leading us into becoming the permanent pastors of this group.

At first we were in for a powerful culture shock as we left a very successful traveling ministry of nearly 12 years to become the leaders of a very small, hurting, local church in Nowhere, FL. I look back on those days and scratch my head as this was so much of God and He was leading so directly, otherwise there would have been no way that we would have gone through with this great change in ministry!

This morning I am reflecting on some of the past while being completely over whelmed by all of the changes of the past 4 years. Yet, I remain totally thankful by the leading of the Holy Spirit in all of this. I am thrilled by what God is doing in our group, in our people. I am so excited by the prospect of all that lays ahead of us as we continue to march forth in His Kingdom.

I am thankful for God revealing to me the wonderful blessings of what New Covenant Grace is all about! My personal life has been completely transformed. I am more conscience of Christ than I've ever been in my entire Christian walk. Yet, I've been more attacked lately by those who are religious than anytime in my entire Christian walk too! But...who cares! I'm going on with God and I'm joined by the neatest group of people that anyone has ever been called to pastor. The leaders in my church are just off the charts! But the neat thing is that just about everyone is a leader of some sorts! It's exciting to say the least!

OK...I'm rambling here, but if you ever feel God calling you to move to Florida, I can suggest a very dynamic church for you! Oh... by the way, we are about the change the name of our church again... New Covenant Grace Fellowship is about to be born!!!!!

A New Covenant Thought Regarding Veteran's Day...

I never served in the Armed Services of our nation. I came close to being drafted for Viet Nam but our oldest son, Scott was born and I was given a father's deferment as a result. However our family has a rich heritage in serving our country. My dad served on the battle ship Wisconsin during WW II. Corinne's dad served in the Navy as well as her brother. Our oldest son, Scott, is also a Navy Vet, serving two tours of duty. Now our grandson, Zach is a Marine, about to be deployed to the fleet. We are so proud of him! I consider everyone serving or having served in protecting our land a great hero! And..I really mean that!

However, on this Veteran's Day, 2012, I would like to honor those who are even greater heroes, those who are past veterans or who currently serve the King of kings! I have said so many times that my call of God is the highest calling any person can get! We live in the United States of America, but our real citizenship is in the Great Kingdom of God!

So to anyone who has ever lead a lost soul to Christ, to anyone who has ever led a person into the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, to anyone who has ever cast out a demon setting a captive free, or healed the sick, or brought Godly counsel to a wayward person....I honor you today! I also honor all of those who have not given up on the Church, in spite of all of her faults. And I especially honor all of those who are coming out of religion and walking in the great revelation of New Covenant Grace.

If you have ever been attacked because of your faith in Christ, I call you blessed! Many have gone on before us, even given their very lives for their high calling; men, women and even children have died because of their walk with Christ...Wow! Talk about real hero's! Glory!!!

Just some Veterans Day thinking today!

Grace and Peace!

Operation "Mission Field: America!"

In light of this week's election results there is one very important point that we Christians have to remember.....50% of us voted Biblical!!!!  Remember God spared Sodom for 10 righteous people, then He removed them before He rained fire and sulphur down upon the city.  (see: Gen. 18 & 19)

Now many are very upset with the choice that America made Tuesday night.  I am getting inundated with email, social media posts, etc., talking about all of the judgment and bad things that are about to befall our nation.  Once again, I have to emphatically state that the judgment has already been completed by Christ.  He didn't come to judge the world but to bring it to salvation!  (John 3:17)  Now we as God's ambassadors need to go forth and declare this salvation to all who will hear.

The Old Ways Will No Longer Work!

Those who seem to oppose Christianity do so because they really do not know what true Christianity really is.  Many of them have been exposed to a legalistic, intolerant Church, being told that they are sinners and that they have to perform to please a God who seems to require so much from them.    These people have never seen the true Grace of God.  God has only been presented to them in an Old Covenant way.

The Churches Finest Hour!

OK... we now sit on the brink of one of the greatest times in world history.  God is allowing us to live when "those who know their God will do great exploits!" (Daniel 11:32)   Whether you see it or not, a "New Church" is coming to the forefront.  It's a Church with power, love and a stirring mandate to advance the Kingdom of God.  This Church is no longer living in the past, the Old Covenant, but is filled with the full knowledge of what Christ has done for Her.  This Church is no longer trying to please God by Her good works, but lives in a constant faith that the glorious works of Calvary are complete, indeed!   This "New Church" is not going to be full of show and glitz, rather She will be known by Her simplistic love; for God, for each other and for the world around Her, no matter how they vote!

My Church

Indeed, "Old things have passed away and all things have become new!" God has called my wife and I to raise up the finest church in our region.  To be honest, I'm thinking we've come a long way in this task, yet we have a great distance to go.  I'm excited by the position that our group here in Citrus County, FL finds ourselves in.  We are at the right place and the right time.  We are on the launching pad and the countdown has begun!  So, I'm declaring to the world a new vision....that vision is "Mission Field: America!"

Through the message of New Covenant Grace we are about to change our nation, one person at a time!  Helping us is the Holy Spirit.  Please expect divine, supernatural provision along with a vast increase of signs, wonders and miracles!  In the midst of darkness there is a bright light shining!  That's the light of the true Gospel, Good News message.  That message is.....Our sins no longer exist!  To the lost world we no longer call them sinners, rather we tell them of all that Christ has already done for them.  He took the judgment so that they too can be saved!

Yep...that's my call on things.  Allow me to close with a few words from Rich Mullin's song, "Our God is an Awesome God."

Grace and Peace!

Judgement and wrath
He poured out on Sodom
Mercy and grace
He gave us at the cross
I hope that we have not
Too quickly forgotten that
Our God is an awesome God

Our God is an awesome God
He reigns from heaven above
With wisdom, power, and love
Our God is an awesome God

Restore the Thrill in Bible Reading!

Do you recall the thrill and excitement you used to have when you read your Bible?  I remember my early Christian days and the excitement I had every time I read my Bible.  In those days I hardly ever laid it down.

I was a salesman in those days and spent many hours driving from customer to customer.  I kept a special "car Bible" close to me at all times  so that at a lunch break or in a traffic jam I could feast on the Word of God.  I just could not lay my Bible down!  In those days there wasn't a lot of Christian books, especially of the charismatic flavor, so I would read The Book and my soul prospered as a result.

Most Christians seem to go through seasons of dryness, especially as they get older in the faith.  When the "excitement" leaves us, it's usually due to our relationship with the Lord becoming mundane.  In those times our Christian life seems to be driven by habit, rather than from our excited relationship with the Lord!  Sunday morning is going to church time, Monday through Friday is work and Saturday is play time.  Before you know it Sunday again and our two hours per week with God is back upon us.  And so the merry go round spins!

Most seasoned Christians do not read their Bible,  except on Sunday morning during their church service!  This is usually a symptom of their dry experience.  A shot of Revival usually takes care of this problem, however after Revival then what?  Usually it's more dryness!  Ouch!  Oh, by the way, I've been there so I know what I'm talking about!  Yes, I am a pastor and I have been very spiritually dry!  Most likely your pastor is spiritually dry right now but would never admit it!  You would be surprised as to just how many pastors are spiritually dry, just going on about their business like nothing is amiss!

Over the past year something wonderful has happened to me!  God has giving me the most exciting revelation that I have ever had!  I've been in ministry since 1976 and I can honestly tell you that reading my Bible is now more exciting than it has ever been!  God has given me a wonderful revelation of what New Covenant Grace really is.  It has changed my life, and as a result has made my Bible more exciting than ever!  I now see Christ and His wonderful plan on just about every page I read; even in the Old Testament!

You know if you read your Bible with only an Old Covenant understanding you are going to see a harsh, judging God.  However, when you read the Word with the full understanding of what the New Covenant is, your eyes are opened to the most perfect Love that the universe has ever seen. My friend, Mark Drake, calls this, "God's Brilliant Plan!"

It takes a revelation from the Holy Spirit to fully understand the New Covenant, especially if you have had the typical religious training that most of us have had.  Most Christians today are the products of false teaching in regards to God's plan for their lives.  We say that most Christians are "sin conscience" rather than being "Christ conscience."  As a result the Bible just becomes a book to prove their theology.  I maintain that one cannot have a relationship with doctrine or theology!  One can only have a relationship with another living being, in this case the very Son of God Himself who dwells within each and everyone who believes!

If your Bible reading is dry, or better yet, if you are honest and admit that you are spiritually dry, my suggestion is to pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you the awesome wonders contained in the mystery of the ages..."Christ in you the hope of Glory!" Watch out!  When this happens you Bible will become just like mine....a brand new Book!

If I can help, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Grace and Peace!

OK..What Went Wrong Last Night?

The answer to my title question is: The Church failed again!

Now before you get excited and say, "Amen, Larry....the Church failed to vote for the Bible, etc." you better read the rest of my post, because you may not like what I'm about to say!

Months ago I felt the Lord expressly state that I was supposed to stay out of the political fray this year.  There was no problem stating my position to my church or to those who sought my opinion, but I was not to get so totally consumed with politics like I have in past years.  I think, for the most part, I did a pretty good job of following the Holy Spirits directive for my life, even though there are many who would not agree with me on this at all.  You know, I've noted a truth again this year as I've observed so many get totally consumed and eaten up by the politics of this election year; the truth is that if one is not careful politics will enter a person and almost control them!  I think I've witnessed that among many of my Christian Brethren again this year!

One news commentator stated this morning, "America is no longer your Father's country."  He stated that the demographics of our nation are such that strong division is all that remains.  A good example is the racial issues; America is no longer a Black or White nation.  America is now a Brown nation!  Social issues such as abortion and gay marriage are equally split right down the middle, last night verified this.

So some would agree with me in my statement that the "Church failed" by saying, "Yes, the Church should have done a better job attacking these moral issues!"  Where I'm probably going to be criticized here is that is NOT the Church's job to attack the moral issues of our Land.  Our job is to be Ambassadors of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying people!  Plus get this.... our old ways of preaching won't get it done either!  As long as the Church preaches against sin we will continue to fail in our divine mission and mandate!  That mission and mandate is to tell the world that Christ has already taken care of the sins of the world and that our faith in Him will change our lives forever!  Until we as the Church begin to preach the New Covenant, we will continue to be the dog chasing our tail!  Church....we cannot legislate morality.  True morality will only come by us bringing one person at a time into the wonderful saving knowledge of their God of Love!

Reading Facebook and Twitter posts last night and this morning I've noted a lot of hurt and bitterness in many posts of my Brothers and Sisters.  I like the prophetic word that Kenneth Copeland brought just a few days prior to the Election.  He stated, "Church, you are going to like the results of this Election!"  He quickly clarified that this did not mean that Romney would win!  He felt that the Lord was saying that either way, we as the Church of Jesus Christ will like the results.  I agree!  I'm thinking that we are on the verge of the greatest ground swell move of God that America has ever seen!  So I'm calling out to my Brethren...Get over it!  Let's regroup, reform and go forth preaching the Real Gospel of Jesus Christ...that is New Covenant Grace!  America... God is NOT judging you!  You have already been judged by God and found not guilty,  now come forth in no condemnation, into the total love of your God and Savior, Jesus Christ! One person at a time coming to Christ will eventually change our Land!

I'm getting ready for a Holy Ghost Gully Washer!  How about you?

Grace & Peace!
