A Great Enemy of Revival

Years ago, a mighty man of God, Myron Anderson, was in the midst of a powerful Revival in the jungles and mountains of north eastern Mexico.  Myron led one man to the Lord in a small Indian village in the State of Veracruz and as a result an entire region was ignited in a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit that lasted many years and brought in many thousands of souls into the Kingdom of God.

Myron was doing apostolic work long before most people knew what apostles were.  Back in those days he was known as a missionary, but his ministry was that of an apostle, planting new churches all over the area.

Myron, now fully retired and up in age, sat down with me a few years ago, telling me his stories of how Revival Fire changed an entire region for the Lord.  I was able to tape record many of his stories and maybe one day I'll write them out in a book.  However, the one thing that comes to mind is that Myron was very vivid and open in talking about what he thought the greatest enemy to Revival is.  After a few years of a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit many of the people involved began to take the Revival for granted.  So Myron felt that the greatest enemy to Revival was FAMILIARITY.

Likewise I have watched this staunch enemy of Revival do its hideous deeds as well, way too often!  Over the years Corinne and I have been in the midst of Revival many, many times.  There isn't a night that goes by, that we come home from a meeting and about all we can say is, "Wow! Did you see that?"  I get excited every time I see God touch someone, heal them, deliver them, save them, etc.  I never tire of seeing miracles!  I never tire of seeing God's people getting changed by the Holy Spirit's power and might!  I never want to take Revival for granted!

As I've said before, it's real simple to tell a person who is in personal Revival and one who isn't.  The person who has not been truly revived has an attitude of, "I've been there, done that, and bought the T shirt!"  The truly revived person is constantly crying out to God, "More Lord!"  The revived person may have been swimming deep in the River of God last night, but tonight they are crying out to God for more!

Church...never allow yourself to become satisfied with your current walk with God!  Don't ever take Revival for granted, making it just another familiar religious exercise.   Keep jumping into God's River as it has a current in it and it will take you to wherever God wants you to be taken.  Keep crying out to God for, "More!"  I assure you, you won't be sorry you did!

Kingdom Blessings!

Larry

Yesterday was a great day of worship and fellowship. Brother Ed gave me a shofar. Now all I have to do is to learn to blow it! Just think... a Jewish guy like me has a hard time blowing a shofar! Everyone else picks them up and blows the Glory down! My fat lips get in the way.
But... my day is coming!

Last night's meeting began hard. Many of our key people could not be there, then our old sound system began acting up, and worship just wasn't flowing. What a predicament! What's a guy to do? After putting up with the hardness of the meeting awhile, I just couldn't take it any more. The Holy Ghost rose up within me and I declared break through over the people. Man.. Revival Fire fell again and people began to gather for prayer, ministry and a whole lot of the Holy Spirit!

Like usual, God had his way last night. I'm so glad He isn't dependent on sound systems, etc! However, I am praying that He will provide the funds for some new equipment, including a new board, some new cameras, a couple of new computers so that we can web cast better as well as have a much needed sound system update!

More Lord!!!!

Since revival broke out in our church, New Beginnings Fellowship in Hernando, FL, a little over a year ago, one of the more popular songs that we sing is, "Are You Ready, Ready, Ready.... Ring a Ding, Ding, Ding!" Godfrey Birtil of the UK wrote and sings this song and it has a powerful effect on all who are in the meetings. OK, it's not a deep worship song, but it has a powerful message for advancing the Kingdom of God.

This morning I woke up with this song in my heart. I am "ready, ready, ready, ring a ding, ding, ding!" I'm ready for all that God has for me
today and tonight, I sense another Holy Ghost gully washer is about to hit us as we gather in God's Revival Fire! I love it!

If you are anywhere near Citrus County, Florida pray about stopping by and jumping into the River. I'm sure you too will be blessed! For more info you can send an email to: [email protected] (copy/paste that email addy into your browser as it's not a hyper link)

Just a thought this morning.... Many are beginning to form a defeatist, protectionist mentality when it comes to the Kingdom of God! Due to the current political, economic and spiritual conditions there is once again a movement being formed that goes like this.... Jesus is coming real soon, the Tribulation is upon us, store up food, dig fox holes, hunker down as the end is near!

I agree, the end is near. Therefore, I wish to advance the Kingdom of God with more signs, wonders and miracles. I want to see the world changed by the power of the Living God! I want to see things in America, the world, changed from sin to revival! No hunkering down for me! I say... Church... it's time to rise up for your Finest Hour! They all seem so see judgment, destruction, etc. I can't help it... I just keep seeing Revival! More Lord!

A Revival Church

More Aug Desiree 005

No matter what, I just have to state... I love revival!  I remain excited about all that God is beginning to do with His Church.  The reports coming out of the Mobile Bay Area of Alabama with Pastor John Kilpatrick and Nathan Morris in the Bay of the Holy Spirit Revival with Church of His Presence) (www.churchofhispresence.org) keep blessing my soul!  It seems that God is in the process of bringing lots of light into a pretty dark world!  Did I say, "I love revival?"

A little over 18 months ago Corinne and I accepted the position of Sr. Pastors of New Beginnings Fellowship in Hernando, Florida (www.nbfhernando.com).  We did not know what to expect only that God was leading us to lay down our traveling ministry of and to pick up the mantle of being senior ministry leaders of a small, struggling, traditional charismatic church in a out of the way part of Florida.  Little did we know that a few months later the Fire of God would fall on us and change everything!

It seems that I am always talking about the lives that are being changed as a result of what God has done.  However, I just cannot seem to get off of that soap box!  We've had many, many physical miracles.  We've had many saved, delivered, encouraged and receive strong impartations of the Holy Spirit.  Those of the small original group that we began this journey with look nothing like they did 18 months ago.  They are now strong in their faith and being used of God in mighty ways!

Sunday morning was a good example.  I have never been in a Sunday morning meeting like the one we had last week.  Everything was special, everything flowed and I recall mentioning to the group that I could not recall a time when I sensed more unity within a church body as I did during that meeting!  Everyone flowed like a well oiled machine.  Ministry gifts were being used to give the Body direction through edification, exhortation and comfort.  It was an awesome meeting!

Paul gives the Church direction on what a true Church Meeting should look like.

1 Corinthians 14:26-33 (New Living Translation)

A Call to Orderly Worship
26 Well, my brothers and sisters, let’s summarize. When you meet together, one will sing, another will teach, another will tell some special revelation God has given, one will speak in tongues, and another will interpret what is said. But everything that is done must strengthen all of you.

27 No more than two or three should speak in tongues. They must speak one at a time, and someone must interpret what they say. 28 But if no one is present who can interpret, they must be silent in your church meeting and speak in tongues to God privately.

29 Let two or three people prophesy, and let the others evaluate what is said. 30 But if someone is prophesying and another person receives a revelation from the Lord, the one who is speaking must stop. 31 In this way, all who prophesy will have a turn to speak, one after the other, so that everyone will learn and be encouraged. 32 Remember that people who prophesy are in control of their spirit and can take turns. 33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace, as in all the meetings of God’s holy people.

Many today say that the above verses can only be fulfilled  when a group meets in a home, sitting in a circle, with no pastors or leaders present.  However, just because a group no longer meets in a "church building" does not make the fulfillment of the above verses happen.  What we witnessed Sunday morning was a total embodiment of Paul's scriptural admonition of what a church should look like as they gather.

As we have been walking out this "Revival Church" thing, I am becoming more aware of the fact that the key element in all church ministry is leadership.  Over the years I have witnessed church leadership make and break moves of God.  I have worked with pastors and leaders who are totally open to God moving in their churches.  Sadly I've seen way too much of the opposite as well!  Nothing saddens me more than observing church leadership stifle and kill a move of God!

My mission at New Beginnings Fellowship is two fold.  #1.  To welcome and embrace the Holy Spirit's ministry in our midst.  That often means that I do not preach....He does!  #2.  To welcome and embrace all of the ministry gifts that God sends our way in the people that are coming.  It is interesting to note that many of the people that God has sent us were not allowed to share their ministry gifts in previous churches!  What a shame!  One brother, Jim, when he first began attending our meetings made this statement, "Here at NBF I feel as though I am being celebrated instead of just tolerated!"  This past Sunday morning Brother Jim ministered to the Body with tears pouring from his eyes like little waterfalls!  I'll celebrate this Brother any day!

Yes, revival is building our church!  I for one, would never consider going back to "church as usual!"

Finally, if you are a pastor of a small church and hungry to see God move in your midst.  Or if you are just hungry for more of the Lord, I might suggest that you come on down and take a good long drink of this excitement yourself!  We are located in beautiful Citrus County, Florida, called the "Nature Coast."  Good flights are available into the Tampa Area or Orlando Area airports.  We have good motel facilities close by.  If you need any more information feel free to send an email to: [email protected]

God is the God of Revival!  The Kingdom of God is advancing and I want to be right in the middle of it all!

Last night's meeting with Desiree Lamphier was very powerful. This morning I awakened with a awesome sense of God's providing love resting upon my life.

Sister Cindy testified about how revival at NBF has changed her life. Just about everyone began to wipe away tears. I love what God is doing in the lives of our people.

I am a very fulfilled man this morning! I love my job.... I love my God! Lord ..... Thank you for revival!

is It Revival Yet? (repost from 5/11/06)

Is It Revival Yet?

How well I remember when our Kids were little.  On any trip, the question would always be, "Dad, are we there yet?"  The answer would always be, "No, but we're getting close!"  Then they would reply, "But Dad, you said we were getting close an hour ago!"  Can you relate?

Wow!  Lately I am reading so many wonderful reports from all around God's wonderful, revival needed world, of His awesome power being manifested.  Who can argue the fact that there is a move of God in the works?  Reports of healing, of outreach, of excitement within the Church are very encouraging.  I really have to think that we are "Getting close to revival, but we sure are not there yet!"

Also, we know that revival is a "God thing."  Often people have said that when the Church prays more, or loves more, or gives more, then revival will come.  Some even say that when the Church comes into unity, then revival will come.  When one takes a glance at the history of revival in America a huge fact has to be noted, that is that any of the above listed works of the Church, didn't bring revival, but they were a product of it.  For instance, the 100th anniversary of the great Azusa St. Revival was just celebrated.  The Church of Los Angeles, CA in 1906 was not moving into unity.  What happened was that God showed up anyway!  Revival has often been depicted at "The Suddenly of God."

So, we rejoice in all that God is doing.  However, the prayer requests for healing and from discouraged Saints just keep coming in.  In this mornings email there were several prayer requests that people sent.  These people have to have a miracle.  We have to have a powerful move of God!

Please join with me in being thankful for all that God is doing.  However, please join with me in crying out to Heaven......."God send Your Spirit to __________(put your town in the blank), For Jesus Christ's sake!"  (the prayer of Evan Roberts prior to the Welsh Revival).

Blessings ~ Larry
