About Comments on This Blog

Howdy,

Just a quick note... Please feel free to comment on any thing written on my blog.  I want to hear from you, even if you disagree with me on something.  I'm a big boy and won't feel rejected if you tell me that you think I'm wrong.  Although...as I tell Corinne, I'm never wrong!  (grin!)  I do not moderate the blog's comments.  However, don't get too carried away in what you write. If you write a comment and you do so with a critical or nasty spirit... you'll be outta here!

To comment on any blog, just click on the small, gray, "comments"  button just below the blog article.  There will be a number just to the right of the word, "comments."  That number is how many comments have been posted.

Occasionally I may respond to your comment.  I don't do it too often, to be honest, it's enough work just to write the blog itself.  However, from time to time, I may respond.  If I do so, it will read, "Larry's response to _______."  Also, feel free to comment on other comments too.   Please... if I do not respond to your comment, it doesn't mean that I don't care.  I read very prayerfully every comment that you folks write.

As I tell people all the time about this blog.... "I pay for it so I can write anything I want!"

Oh, you may not realize it, but "The River is Here" is being read by many people around the world.  We are getting several hundred readers per week.  It's not a lot compared to the great bloggers out there, who get several hundred hits per minute.  But we have people reading this blog from all over the world.  I cannot tell who reads this blog, but I can tell when a reader comes from another country.  I do not get personal info back, but it does give me an idea as to who's reading.  It's neat and a lot of fun doing this part of our ministry.

Be blessed Friends!

Larry

A Very Hard Word!

Greetings from Huntsville, AL

Last evening my evangelist friend, Roger Webb (www.rogerwebb.org) called.  He asked if we had ever read Amos 5:18-24 from the Message Bible?  Corinne and I told him that we hadn't so Roger read the passage below.  As Roger began to read this to us, our jaws dropped to our feet!

So, please take a minute and read the passage below.  Let it speak to your heart.  Also, take some time and explore the balance of Amos, read these verses out of other translations.  This entire book deals with backsliding Israel, but it is also prophetic about the last days, prior to the coming of the Lord.

Wow... let me know what you think about this.  You can leave a comment by hitting the little gray word, "comments" (there is a number directly to the right of this word) below this blog.

Blessings.....Larry the Revivalist!

Time to Face Hard Reality, Not Fantasy
18-20 Woe to all of you who want God's Judgment Day!
Why would you want to see God, want him to come?
When God comes, it will be bad news before it's good news,
the worst of times, not the best of times.
Here's what it's like: A man runs from a lion
right into the jaws of a bear.
A woman goes home after a hard day's work
and is raped by a neighbor.
At God's coming we face hard reality, not fantasy—
a black cloud with no silver lining.

21-24"I can't stand your religious meetings.
I'm fed up with your conferences and conventions.
I want nothing to do with your religion projects,
   your pretentious slogans and goals.
I'm sick of your fund-raising schemes,
your public relations and image making.
I've had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.
When was the last time you sang to me?
Do you know what I want?
   I want justice—oceans of it.
I want fairness—rivers of it.
   That's what I want. That's all I want.

Who Am I?

As we travel the "Revival Highway," touring our great Nation, we often have a good laugh about who people think we are and what they feel to call us.  It seems that many today are fixated by titles.  Today's Church isn't using the old standby, "Reverend" too much any more.  Boy am I glad.... I have never liked that title one bit!  Today many in ministry seems to be going by, "Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, or Pastor."  It's interesting that we don't call the teachers within the Body of Christ, "Teacher Smith or Teacher Jones!"

As we travel full time, ministering in many different flavors of churches and ministries, from denominations to those who are non-denominational from those who meet in ornate buildings to those who meet in living rooms, we find that  some ministers have a tough time introducing us.  I am called.... you guessed it..."Apostle Larry, Prophet Larry, Evangelist Larry and even Pastor Larry"  (and I haven't been a pastor for years!).

So the question is...."Who in the world is Larry?"  I often joke, "Call me anything you want, just don't call me late for dinner!"  However, for the past month I've been loosing weight, about 20 lbs now, so calling me "late for dinner" probably won't be all that bad either.  Matter of fact, Corinne might really thank you for that!

I feel that ministerial titles are more job descriptions than they are office titles.  So... Billy Graham does the work of an evangelist, winning the lost to Christ, so that is what he does, not who he is.  Make sense?  However, keeping this in mind, it seems like folks today do need something to identify with, so it's peace of mind to some to call a minister by his/her title.  You know, I am safe and totally secure in my ministry calling.  I have been recognized by many of my peers in my calling and gifts to the Body of Christ. Now, I'm not going to tell you what my calling is.... that's for you to figure out, to comprehend.  But if you wish to give me a title, please call me, "Larry the Revivalist!"  Now that's one title I think is just peachy!  Below is a dictionary definition of the word, "Revivalist."  Please note the two definitions:

American Heritage Dictionary - Cite This Source - Share This re·viv·al·ist (rĭ-vī'və-lĭst) Pronunciation Key n." 1) One who promotes or leads religious revivals. 2) One who revives practices or ideas of an earlier time." re·viv'al·ist adj., re·viv'al·is'tic adj. The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition Copyright © 2006 by Houghton Mifflin Company. Published by Houghton Mifflin Company. All rights reserved.

Finney OK, the first definition I can live with, but I really love the second...."One who revives practices or ideas of an earlier time!"  Forgive me, the exclamation point is mine.  I love that definition!  That is me Folks... I'm pointing the way forward to a time of 1900 plus years ago, when the Church of the Lord Jesus was changing the world, not being changed by the world!  I always tell people that the "New Wineskin" is actually 2000 years old!  Wow!  I love it... people so filled with God that their towns and cities are completely transformed by the power of God!  Just think in my "Revival Towns" there will be no more sickness, no more disease, no more crime, no more sin...they will be filled with the Bride of Christ, doing the work of the ministry, awaiting the coming of the Groom!

Yep, that's me... Larry the Revivalist!  If you stick me with a fork, I'll bleed revival!  I hope you know what I mean!

I trust that you folks don't get too tired of my rants on revival!  If you do, please have patience with me.  It's just that my heart so longs for this, that it is all I can think of.  Actually you can help me get off of my soap box.  All you have to do is to begin asking God to send this great move of His Spirit, awakening us to all that we are to be in Him.  Then pray and ask Him to revive you.  Let Kingdom revival begin in your heart, then you begin to draw others in, and before long....we've got it... the River of God once more in flood stage!

Will you help me?  Will you cry out to God for your own personal revival?  Then will you pray for the American Church....."Lord... send your Spirit to the American Church... for Jesus Christ's sake!" (a take off of the prayer of Evan Roberts prior to the great Welsh Revival).

Kingdom blessings,

Larry the Revivalist!
