So You Think You Have Revival?

Greetings from Sacramento, CA:

As a Revivalist, I think that I sometimes do "quirky" things.  For instance last Fall a Brother in PA gave me a picture of Charles Finney that he took from a picture  of Finney hanging in the church he founded in Oberlin, OH.  I carry that picture in the back fly leaf of my Bible because Finney is one of my heroes!  I like looking at this picture from time to time.  Actually Corinne and I spent some time at that church, laying hands on it, and wept when we thought of the thousands of new souls that walked through those doors.  We then found Finney's grave site in Oberlin, laid our hands on his grave marker, we cried like little babies!

In our travels we have met several people that had key relationships and positions with some of the great Revivalists of the past, like A.A. Allen, Jack Coe, Gen. William Booth, etc.  When we meet them, I pump them for information.  My questions go something like this, "What was it like to..........?"  You can fill in the dots!  Sometimes it amazes me how these people take such great moves of God for granted, and very nonchalantly tell some of the stories that I am starving to hear.

When I read books on past moves of God, my life just gets messed up and my world gets rocked for days.  I remember reading "Diary of Signs and Wonders" by Maria Woodworth-Etter, and almost fell into a state of extreme shock!  Oh how I long for the Holy Spirit moving like He did in those days!

I wish every pastor in America would take the next month or two and just teach his/her people about all of the past moves of God in America.  Why?  Because most people attending the churches of today do not have the slightest idea about what has happened in our American past.  For instance most church members do not realize that the great Cane Ridge Revival had a most dramatic effect on the settling of the West, as Christianity was advanced westward, through this move of God.   Some think that it was the Colt .45 that settled the West.  It really wasn't, instead it was Revival!

The other day my good friend, Evangelist Roger Webb (www.rogerwebb.org) sent me a link to a website of a guy that I have never heard of, Raymond T. Richy.  Richy was a Revivalist that had powerful meetings that greatly impacted many cities of America, notably Houston, TX.  I am going to post this link below, and I really encourage you to take a look at it.  My hope and prayer is that as you take the time to surf through this site that it's effect will be one of really "messing you up" too!  I pray that a hunger will begin to burn within you, one that will completely consume you, that you will pray...."Give me Revival or I die!"

One last thing... as you go to the Raymond Richy website, make sure you look at the pictures of some of the meetings, especially the section entitled, "Photos From the Book."

In closing, Richy was once asked, "What is faith?"  He replied, "Faith is just acting on God's word."  Let's all pray in faith, acting on God's word, for a sweeping revival for America.

We arrived in Sacramento yesterday, with a great expectation in our hearts.  We are asking God for a great "Gully Washer" here!  Please pray for us, and for revival for America!.......PLEASE!

More About Gen. Booth

Several years ago, while pastors of a small church in Michigan, the Holy Spirit graced us with a wonderful move of God.  Our meetings were extended, actually running for 26 weeks.  It was this move that thrust us into the traveling ministry.

During this time Gen. William Booth's grandson heard of the meetings that we were having.  He lived in Northern Michigan.  He called me and asked some questions, and as we spoke, I could sense that the Holy Spirit was stirring him.  He told me that he and his wife would attend sometime that week.  A couple of nights later an elderly couple arrived.  It was indeed William Booth's grandson.  We spoke for a few minutes, and then we began worship.  The Booth's sat near the front and they entered into worship with the rest of us.  Later I preached a message about revival.  What was strange, I find it not too often that people really get stirred up emotionally during preaching, rather it's more frequent during anointed worship.  Well, this time it was really different.  During my entire message this humble man of God sat with his face in his hands, weeping like a baby.

After the meeting we had a time of fellowship with the Booths.  They had brought some old photos of Grandfather, and told some old family stories.  They had left for their motel as they had a long drive the following morning, back to Northern Michigan.  But this was an experience that I'll never forget!

The spirit of revival was passed down to a Grandson who had a passion for the same thing.....  Revival!  Wow!

Someday I might tell you about our visit to Charles Finney's grave site, that would be a good story for another day!

Evan Roberts & Gen. Booth

Note from Larry:

The other day I was IM chatting with someone on the East Coast, and we were sharing with each other the need of revival in America.  I was reminded of the prayer that Evan Roberts (Welsh Revival) taught his followers to pray just proceeding the fire of revival falling on Wales.  He taught them to pray, "Lord send Your Spirit to Wales for Jesus Christ's sake!"  All I can say is, "Amen Evan Roberts!"  I say too, "Lord send Your Spirit to the United States and to the World for Jesus Christ's sake!"  And then, there is this old song below, written a long time ago by Gen. William Booth, "Send the Fire!"  Oh, once again I have to say, "Amen, Gen. Booth!  You've got it Brother.... Lord send the Fire to America and to the World!"

Gen. William Booth (Founder of Salvation Army)

'Thou Christ of burning cleansing flame
Send The Fire, Send the Fire, Send The Fire!
Thy Blood-bought gift today we claim,
Send The Fire, Send the Fire, Send The Fire!
Look down and see this waiting host
Give us the promised Holy Ghost,
We want another Pentecost
Send The Fire, Send the Fire, Send The Fire!

God of Elijah, hear our cry
Send The Fire, Send the Fire, Send The Fire!
To make us fit to live or die
Send The Fire, Send the Fire, Send The Fire!
To burn up every trace of sin
To bring the light and glory in
The revolution now begin
Send The Fire, Send the Fire, Send The Fire!

To make our weak hearts strong and brave.
Send The Fire, Send the Fire, Send The Fire!
To live a dying world to save
Send The Fire, Send the Fire, Send The Fire!
O see us on thine altar lay
Our Lives, our all, this very day.
To crown the offering now we pray

Vomit or Royality?

Greetings from Waterford, CA!

Over the past few weeks I have heard a lot of talk about judgment coming to America.   I have also heard some banter from some saying that there will not be any future revival coming to the American Church.  One person even suggested that he was not eager for revival to arrive due to the fact that historically revivals have ebbed and flowed.

Is America already facing God's judgment?  No!  I even go so far as to say that prior national disasters, such as hurricanes and even terrorist attacks are not really God's judgment upon our Nation.  Here is why:  I Peter 4: 17 says, (NLT) "For the time has come for judgment, and it MUST BEGIN with God's household."  Therefore if any judgment is being manifested, it is indeed geared towards the Church, not our Nation.  Is the Nation of America innocent? NO!  But I also have to note that, except for a few  revival "hot spots," over all there is not currently revival in the Land!

The American Church has often been labeled as the infamous Church in Laodicea of Revelation 3: 14-22 fame.  This Church is described by Jesus to be:

  • Lukewarm in their relationship with God indicated by their indifference to Him.
  • Very wealthy in everything except in their spiritual condition.
  • Not really wanting change in their spiritual condition
  • The actual condition of this Church is that of: "being wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked."

If this Church does not repent of their sin, Jesus says "I will spit you out of my mouth!"  Hence the actual concept of this Church ending up as spent vomit!  Now we have heard much of this concept over the years....."Church of America, repent or be vomited from Jesus' mouth!"

I am a "Revivalist."  God has called Corinne and I to the Churches of America.  Our message is that there is coming a move of God so strong that it will reach far beyond good meetings in a local church, rather that entire regions will be transformed by the Holy Spirit.  The Church will be once again be taking dominion over entire territories, becoming the dominating force in the Nation!  If we felt that God was not going to bring life-changing revival to His Church, we would have quit this ministry long ago!  As a Revivalist I have to hold on to the vision of God pouring His Spirit upon His Bride, bringing the greatest spiritual renewal that the world has ever seen.  We often tell people that, "We eat, sleep and breathe revival!"

Now, what about the title of this Blog, "Vomit or Royalty?"  The bottom line is........It has never been God's will to vomit the American Church out of the mouth of Jesus!  Instead His will for the American Church is (also for the world-wide Church of Jesus Christ): REPENTANCE, then........ (Rev. 3:20), "Look!  I stand at the door and knock.  If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.  Those who are victorious will sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne."

If the American Church repents she can expect:

  • Intimate fellowship and relationship with her High King, Jesus.
  • To those who overcome the suffering that comes against them, they will sit with Jesus on His throne.

You see it?  It is not God's will for the American Church to become vomit.  His will is for us to repent, then overcome our suffering and battles, and be ushered onto the seat of His authority.  Remember Jesus is the King of kings.  He is the King, we are the kings.  God's will for us is to have Kingdom authority!

Folks the Church in America has "never traveled this way before!" (Joshua 3:4)  We are in for the greatest revival of all history!  This revival will be found in a new awareness of who we really are.  We shall see ourselves as God really sees us.  Get ready.... it is coming, and very, very soon!
